The new Gatorz Havok sport shield sunglasses are for both work and play. The sport shield design was originally introduced in the 80’s. It was predominantly worn by athletes and trended around the world. The Gatorz Havok are definitely a retro upgrade. The Havoc is a new and improved sport shield with “on duty/off duty” design like all other Gatorz Eyewear.

Capability: Like all other Gatorz, the Havok do more than just protect your eyes from the sun or make you look sporty. Havoks are designed for recreational and tactical use. Protecting you from the elements and ricochets. Unlike most eyewear companies, they put capability above and beyond lifestyle but these are very capable lifestyle shades.

Utility: When you compare it to other Gatorz specifically designed for hard-core adventure and tactical use – the Havoks lean more toward lifestyle/sport vs. tactical/law-enforcement use. The oversized wrap around lens provides plenty of protection but will the oversized surface area hinder other capabilities for the wearer?

Intuitiveness: The interchangeability of lenses and adjustable nose piece are pretty easy to figure out. Once you start manipulating the lens clip and nose piece, you quickly realize how easy it is to make adjustments.

Durability: Once again, like all other Gatorz, and unlike most other eyewear companies, the aluminum frames and ricochet resistant lens can’t be beat, literally you can’t beat them enough – they are that durable. 

Overall, I give them 4.5 – I recommend them to anyone who desires the retro look and style for daytime work or nighttime play. They are certainly great for outdoor sports whether you’re an amateur or a professional. Gatorz Eyewear set the standard and I’ve personally been wearing them for 20+ years.
